Trend Alert: 70's Retro

Our calendar is saying that it's 2019, but our closet is saying that it's 1974... and we're choosing to listen to our closet. There is so much to love about the retro trend that has circled back around - from the groovy details to the guaranteed timelessness of each piece. However, we understand that there may be a lil' bit of intimidation. Some may see 'retro' and are instantly blinded by an illusion of gogo boots and corduroy, but don't you worry. Here are 6 totally groovy (but also super easy) ways to pull off the 70's trend.

ACCESSORIES

We've got total heart eyes for heart shaped sunglasses! They'll cover two essential jobs in one: protecting you from harmful UV rays while still serving all of those vintage summertime looks. Fun sunnies are the essential accessory that will compliment every outfit.

TEXTURE

Textured fabric

Our current style motto: texture, texture, and more texture. It adds the most subtle somethin' somethin' to a solid color (in this case MUSTARD) in a simple but super effective way. Textured fabric is so reminiscent of the unique details of the 70's and can easily be incorporated into your spring and summer wardrobe.

BOLD PATTERNS

Bold Patterns

You can't have 70's style without flower power! Wearing a fun floral piece with a go-to basic bottom (like white or black flares) is one of the easiest ways to pull off the retro trend. It isn't too head to toe, but you'll definitely be remembered as having made a statement.

BELL BOTTOM FLARES

Bell bottom flares

Our days of only wearing skinny jeans have come and gone... we're now reaching for the biggest of bell bottoms. A pair of flares will suddenly transform any average outfit from standard to stand out, even if you pair them with just a plain white tee! As far as we're concerned, be flare or be square.

PLATFORM SHOES

Comfier than a heel, sassier than a sandal. Platform wedges are the perfect in between! They were definitely a staple shoe throughout the 70's and there's no doubt that they are making a bold comeback. From jeans to dresses, you'll want to wear them with everything this season.

TORTOISE

Tortoise large

Most of us have already been rocking tortoise hoop earrings for a while now, but we're ready to start incorporating this fun detail into our wardrobe as well. Tortoise is a classic, yet unique way to give a solid colored piece a cool and eclectic vibe. Say hello to your newest neutral!
